Poverello victim of identity theft scam. Some American Express cards fraudulently charged.

The Poverello Center has been the victim of an internet scam.  American Express customers nationwide are reporting fraudulent charges, in the form of supposed donations to the Poverello Center, appearing on their credit card bills. The Poverello Center is not receiving ANY of these funds and does not have access to these account numbers. We reported this situation to local law enforcement as well as federal authorities. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to stop this from happening. If your credit card shows a charge from the Poverello Center that you did not authorize, please report that charge to your credit card company’s fraud prevention department.

We appreciate everyone who supports our mission to provide food, shelter, help and hope to Missoulians who are experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. We are committed to work diligently with law enforcement to ensure we are doing everything we can to end this scam.
